How We Can Help You

Nepal is building a network of Special Economic Zones throughout its provinces to encourage foreign investment with tax breaks and concessions. Accessing the opportunities provided by the Nepalese economy requires expert knowledge and support. International companies who are building their international profile by expanding operations into Nepal must make a major commitment if they also intend hiring employees and managing the payroll for their company.

This commitment also means complying with every aspect of the Labour Act and Labour Rules… this is why you need Bradford Jacobs at your side. We have total understanding of all the issues surrounding Nepal’s payroll regulations, employment contracts, taxes and labour laws, and we can guarantee your compliance in all areas.

Bradford Jacobs’ Professional Employer Organisation (PEO) and Employer of Record (EOR) platforms and networks provide complete answers to every question your company will encounter before you move into the economy, especially when it comes to operating payroll.

  • Remote payroll – This option allows businesses to operate under a single payroll system, by adding employees in Nepal to your parent company’s payroll. However, these employees must operate under different regulations, which is likely to cause problems.
  • Internal payroll – You may operate payroll for your subsidiary, especially if you are committed to growing your company’s presence in Nepal. However, this does require hiring dedicated HR staff who understand Nepalese employment and compliance laws.
  • Nepals’ payroll processing company – If you are considering outsourcing, then working with a Nepalese payroll company will help in processing your payroll – but not when it comes to compliance.
  • Nepals’ payroll outsourcing – However, there is another option available that solves both concerns – by working with Bradford Jacobs. We can handle payroll and compliance for all your employees in Nepal. We take the administrative stress off your shoulders so you can focus on what you do best.

Foreign companies expanding their operations into Nepal must open a subsidiary to be able to hire staff and manage their payroll. The usual choice is to open a private limited liability company, which complieswith the Companies Act (2006) and is regulated by Nepal’s Department of Industry (DOI). Foreign investment regulations come under the Foreign Investment and Technology Transfer Act (FITTA, 2019).

Once established, procedures for onboarding employees in Nepal generally include the following, although specific requirements can vary between the provinces.

  • Verify the individual’s Permanent Account Number (PAN), which is their tax identification number
  • Register employees with the Inland Revenue Department (IRD)
  • Register employees with the Social Security Fund (SSF) within three months of the start of employment
